"Very well, I shall start what needs to be done just in case straight after this meeting is adjourned." Sarasi Kadnessi spoke directly to Khari. She also tipped her head in the direction of Vyri Darsk way for her timely help. Confusing considering their families had a falling out years before, though in all fairness that had been the previous head of the house not her.
"Agreed." Rhy spoke up. "This is a slap to our face everyone must see this. They think to take over and hide while others to do their dirty work. We must act now, stand up before its to late for us. " he should bring up the plan, now that everyone was concerned about their finances. Though he waited for a moment longer not feeling like its the right time, yet.
"Are we suggesting war?" Vyri Darsk asks looking around the room. "War against this Kage and his forces and possibly the RGE if they are found guilty of helping him?"She wasn't as powerful as some of the other head of houses, either in connections or wealth. If the council agreed she would be part of it and be forced to add to the proceedings. That gave her a moment of pause.
"I might have a way to break even and possibly make us the top most leader in the industry. A mega corporation bigger then ever seen before." he stood up to get everyones attention. "I came here to resign my positions within this company today. I would like to do that now and share with you all the 'Plan' as it is being called."
Turning to Anara he asked before the entire council as witness to his actions. "I step down formally from the head of the Knylenn house and ask that you act as executor, until my younger brother comes of age to take up the position." That made him legally free of every interest of his house. He gave everything away effectively.
"Within a few days i will be an employee of the Corporate Sector Authority itself and take up my new position of Viceprex in charge of Production." he announced to the stunned group.
"There is a secret group of loyal and respected businessmen and women behind this appointment, their goal is securing control of the Executive Directorships Board of the CSA. I cant get to much into the details but KDY will acquire several shipping business big and small and ultimately gain control of the CSA itself. With that he say down as the mummers and hushed tones started as household members spoke and discussed what they could mean to them and in the end Kuat.

War was a regrettable consequence of much of what they proposed. When the RGE realized they had essentially had the rug pulled out from underneath them, or that they had sided with the GA, that could point many of the empires weapons in their direction. Their independence was at stake here, anyone with half a braincell would have seen that, but the picture they had essentially painted here, the GA would soon become their main source of income as they took a stand against the RGE.
War was, regrettably good for business.
"One would hope this wouldn't be the case, though I find the possibility of the RGE settling this to satisfactory measures a little doubtful, however presumptuous on my part." Khari said plaintively, then turning to pay credence to Sarasi Kadnessi with her following salvo, "Every measure will be taken, within reason, to ensure a smooth transition in the interim."
She hoped that would at least allay some of Darsk's fears, as well as placate the Kadnessi elder a tad more. Already she appeared to have accepted the first point and progress, however slight, was a welcome sight.
But this wasn't even the main event, and when Rhy took to the floor, Khari did her best to look respectfully surprised. She had been a driving force in this, Rhy was an unexpected accessory, and as Tress had put it, a necessary one. There was going to come a time when she would admit her part in this, to more extent than she intended to now, but the rest would go without saying. For this to be so, to pull such corporations under the control of KDY, Rhy would have been required to run this by her in particular, rather than the softer approach. Since KDY did not run as many companies did, Khari's judgement would either be damned or accepted, there was little in means of leway.
Completely unintentionally, Khari visibly baulked at that, her incredulity was all too genuine - she hadn't been expecting that part of the arrangement, In fact, it had never once been discussed. Had Tress known about this aspect of the deal?
Trying not to appear to obvious, she glanced in his direction with an unspoken question in her dark eyes, whilst meanwhile, Anara was the one left caught out there, agast at Rhy's decision and Khari fully understood why. Rhy had to be out of his mind! The younger Knylenn brother was barely Ten years old, and Rhy's declaration placed that child in the care of one Anara Vestra. Images and memories of her own childhood played momentarily through Khari's mind until she was doing her best not to physically shake those out of her ear again. This was a supremely bad idea, Anara was about as maternal as a kodashi viper...she was, like most Kuati women of her ilk, the sort of person who would hand their children to the telbun that helped create them and be done with it until that child came of age or could hold a decent and mature conversation.
But to her credit, the Senator didn't say a word. Suspectly so. Holding her tongue, she had to be, or simply stunned to silence.
Back to the plan, the younger Vestra did her best to allow the discussion to go hall wide, without getting out of hand, picking up on the odd sentence here and there to the contrary or otherwise.
"Is this so?" The head of the Kuhlvult family asked Khari directly, leaving the director to nod once in confirmation.
"It is a deal that has been on the datacards for some time, only now was it truly possible. The current climate leaves us in a perfect position to bring CSA's assets into our fold and gain enough new contracts through subsidaries to make up for, and excede, those we would have sundered should the RGE be found to be guilty of collaboration with the Grey Jedi. If not...all the better for KDY." She replied, just loud enough to mask Anara's less than subtle cursing at her back.

There thought Rhy as he sat down, his duty to his family was now completed. The rest was for him to do personally, but that was for a later date. Now all he had to do was sit back and see where things went here with the Council.
Tress having been disguised as a Telbun sat somewhat behind Khari and her mother, sitting silently watching the proceedings as if he was indeed a telbun. Things were going as planned, Rhy would leave immediately to the Corporate Sector and assume his new job responsibilities while the next phase of the plan started.
Rendili Stardrive was one of the original sponsors of the Corporate Sector Authority along with KDY, Bank of the Core and a few others. For that fact they still carried considerable sway within the Executive Directorships Board, which was one of the reasons he had sought to purchase it in the first place. It had been hard enough trying to buy it from the owners knowing his connection to the Zann's of Anaxes, but if they had known his plans they would have denied him outright. The public fight with Khari, the buying of companies and the rumors of a jilted lover bent on ruination of his old flames company where well placed to cover his true intent.
In a weeks time exactly as Rhy would be taken up his office for a few days, CSA would be holding their annual board meeting. That was when with the help of Khari, Cian and the Praji families connections he would be named the new Prez and serve as the Direx Boards personal representative. The position would be for three years, but that was only a front for something greater. He would bring up a vote of no confidence on the presiding ExO and replace him with his puppet Rhy therefore taking over control of the CSA and its total resources. Everyone involved would be rewarded beyond their wildest dreams.
"When would we have been told of this?" Sarisi Kadnessi asked suddenly seeing something that was off. "Do the Vestra's seek to gain the most from this endeavor while the rest of us fight over the scraps?" Why wasn't anyone told of this to begin with. She looked around the room seeing some lost in what could be with this advantage news, others mostly Vyri Darsk was reserved.
"This could mean alot to all of the houses in the long run." Vyri Darsk said soon after making up her mind on the matter. "Though since we are here now, why don't you share the full plan with us all..." she was looking at Khari now.
Behind her Tress looked over at Anara, just looked at her and hoped she would step in and move things along. There was no harm in them knowing the plan now, it was to far along to stop with everything ready and set. Everything was legitimate in the eyes of the law with other companies and corporations having been whispered into siding with them. Using markers or debts owed to the Praji's Bank of the Core as a bargaining chip to see things their way, but why should they be told anything. All they should be concerned about was their wealth would be doubling or tripling soon enough.
"Not at this time, others involved stand to lose everything if word gets out to soon." It was a lie that had to be said, Rhy thought as he stepped in. He had seen Tress move, his involvement had to remain a secret until later. "I can tell you all this much. Everyone will be getting an equal share of the companies handed over to us and KDY. Its part of the agreement set up..."

The Kadnessi elder was to the point as ever, and it would be hard to shake her of her negative views when it appeared that much she needed to be informed about, what being kept from her. That was her perogative, Khari thought, but she would be disappointed and in being so, quite possibly damn the whole plan for it. Just as she had thought earlier, though, not on her watch and definitely not later. Things were now in motion that could not be stopped, it didn't matter if Sarasi's entire family disagreed so long as more families sided with her.
"Not at all, Sarasi. You're looking for deception where there has been none. This was, until quite recently, a endeavour that was personal to all those involved, much as you and your family are deeply involved with the RGE. It only became a KDY matter - and therefore a matter to be shared with everyone here - the moment I informed those involved I would put it to the council. As you can see...that time has come." She was going to have to trust her on this, the old fool didn't see the potential of this plan, and nor would she want to if she dug deep enough. It had the name 'Zann' written all over it.
Vyri Darsk, ever cautious and curteous with it, was the next one to give voice to her concerns.
Now that was awkward, Khari thought as she clasped both hands together at the small of her back, holding Darsk's measured gaze the entire time while her mind worked furiously as to which answer to give her. The truth, of sorts, was never far from the forefront of her mind, but letting them in on this now was not a good idea. In the long run, they would grow to wish they had just trusted her on this. So she assumed.
"Everything is still in it's infancy and going smoothly, if you wish to find out more it is no different to any other major merge we have executed in the past. You entrusted others to that then, all I ask for the meantime is that you afford me the same courtesy and trust that I will do what is best for you all. I stand to gain as much as any of you, you are my equals and I am doing this to better KDY." The murmured scoff from one side of the hall told her not everyone shared that point of view. Resisting the urge to roll her eyes derisively, she was glad when Rhy chose to stand up to embelish the importance of this plan.
That welcome confirmation earned him a polite smile and nod from Khari. The atmosphere in the hall had better change soon, it was far too opressive for her liking. Hostilities had a habit of tainting the air and mood of those around it. She wouldn't have been at all surprised had a huge storm cloud suddenly appeared above the vaulted dome above their heads and given way to a torrential downpour.
"We had every intention of telling you, it is why we speak of it now, but we need more time."

Sarisi wasn't happy with the outcome, exactly. Though if it was all true her fortune wouldn't be taking a fall after all. Though what kind of power were they talking about here? Would they be able to claim a portion of CSA for themselves and each of their families? "Will the whole of the CSA be partitioned off to the TEN houses then?" This was shaping up to be an extremely profitable meeting. She had never dreamed of owning hundreds of planets with untold mineral wealth on them.
Vyri Darsk, had been wondering the same thing. Her family could uses this to jump start their finances, either to acquire more for themselves or put it away for later. If she was reading Sarasi right, she didn't want that much. Territory meant governance of said planets within their region, that was to much for her to consider.
"No, CSA will be its own entity allied with Kuat and its people. WE.." he waved around the room. "...will not be in control of things. Only get a slice in the profits. " he tells them simply.
"Thats easy for you to say, you are a part of the plan it seems while the rest of us are in the dark." Sarasi spat out at Rhy, to think his family had been dishonored and fallen so far only to be in the forefront of something so big. "You as for us to just trust you to see to things, while i have to give up every connection to the RGE and risking losing everything." she was getting worked up and not liking how things were going.
"No one is forcing anyone to be a part of this, speak up now and you will be cut off..." he looked around the room, studying each and every head of household. "This is an incredible opportunity for all of us to be a part of a massive corporate alliance with some of the major companies of the galaxy. "
"So the vote is on the table....do we go along with this coarse of action or not? Do we take this to the Senate? Do we cut our ties with RGE until a full Senate investigation into the Grey Jedi attacks are looked into?" It would depend on how the investigation went, too. If they covered it up it would escalate to something more.
"I vote for...." he looked at Anara. "Though, it is Anara Vestra's vote to cast for the meantime....."
"I agree also about the both topics. The Darsk family votes, Yes."

Finally something Khari could be completely open about, though she wasn't entirely sure how Sarasi was going to take it. What it would mean was that her losses would be covered, she had to realize that, or they would be upon completion.
"A portion of their profits will be, it was a difficult deal to broker since the current chairperson of CSA and their board of directors were not looking to sell. It makes sense for them to keep their workforce, the majority of it anyway, the board included, but this is what you could call a foot in the proverbial door. You will find it is more than enough to cover the losses you may sauffer, assuming that is your main concern?"
This drew a rumbling chuckle from the gallery of affiliates, all of them knowing, just as Khari did, that Sarasi's main concern was she and her own, that she was only kicking up such a fuss because she was concerned she was about to lose everything. If Khari had ever felt a sliver of sympathy for the elder, she didn't think now was the right time to show it, not only would it be demeaning, but disrespectful. Not that this would bother her on more personal grounds, but this was business.
Rhy, who had been on something of a roll since his initial announcement, was keen to reiterate.
Sighing almost dramatically, she glanced at Sarasi once again to find her staring down Rhy with a sharpness and clarity to her glare that could have flash frozen a being on impact. She had her gears and she was going to grind them, as always.
"And what of you, Khari? Do you have anything to say about this?"
Khari turned back to the direction of the Kuhlvults and their speaker, palms spread wide in an open gesture. "He is speaking the words that I, myself, would only convey to you. If you do not wish to be a part of this, no one is saying you must. But I would strongly advise you to think hard on such a decision, this really is an oppotunity to be a part of something big and, importantly for those who are concerned about their losses, profitable."
Anara, who had remained standing throughout the entire exchange, merely nodded resolutely. Many wouldn't have a choice, but they did all reap the benefits.
While Anara stepped up to cast their vote, Khari held a tense silence, actually needing to remind herself to breathe at one point. This venture would either hit the ground running or it would fall catastrophically at the first hurdle. For the obvious reasons, while she might have held the most significant position in her family, Khari had given the choice and task of appraising them of this matter, it could be seen as her attempting to sway things far to much in her favour. The reality of the situation was that everyone predisposed to opposing the movement, was going to believe that anyway.
"I we vote in favour of taking action and to this alliance. I for one think the families of those men lost aboard the array need answers as to how this injustice was allowed to happen." The older Vestra said, with a curiously imperious glance to one side at Rhy, but whatever was going on there she shook of a second later.
Next to cast their vote were the Kuhlvults. "I believe we stand to lose more than just our reputation if such embarrassments are allowed to become weaknesses. For this reason and more, we vote in favour of both."
Now it was all eyes on Sarasi Kadnessi and her supporters, this was the biggest break in their armour, if there was going to be a turning point, it was going to be here that it was forged. So it was with baited breath and a keeness, that Khari waited to hear the elder's answer.

They all needed to know the CSA matter would go along with or without them, the rest was really what they were here for. The situation was hostile and didn't seem to add up. A supposedly friendly ally helping capture a terrorist and taking him away. Weeks later the same person is seen attacking Corellia. The involvement of the RGE, just as they had been here 'seeking' help from them so soon after the attack seemed planned.
There was rumors now of RGE seeking talks with Corellia and now to have the Kage on holofeed attacking and damaging property? All evidence pointed to the RGE using the Kage to get in good with those they wanted to seem friendly to. That was what this meeting was about. ...
The Darsk, Knylenn, Vestra, and Kuhlvults were with going on with plans, the rest skirted the lines, between standing up to one of the great powers and gaining wealth for nothing. They knew there would be a price for it later. Though it seemed the voting was taking place now.
"I agree under duress at this time. I don't condone the pressure of alienating the RGE at this time when nothing is certain. Though, I do agree to the investigation of their involvement of the Kages attack. To the CSA i agree.." Sarasi voting swayed the rest of the council and things were concluded nicely. Rhy had a feeling she could have fought it and drug this on until a later date.
"Seems like we are all in agreement, then." Vyri Darsk looks around the room making sure.
"Good, is there anything else...?" Rhy looks around the room, he had to get going soon and wanted to talk to Anara one last time.

Holding your peace was a lot easier when even your enemies made an attempt at agreement. She hadn't been expecting any kind of favour from Sarasi Kadnessi, so the partial agreement had Khari utterly stunned. With her some of the other families would fall into line, even if they just had that partial agreement, it would be enough to catylist this endeavour beyond expectations. She had always known it would be the hardest part of this whole affair, the voices of many of Kuat's highest regarded would have more political clout than if Anara would have just gone alone on her behalf.
When the final tally came in, they had a healthy seven to the remaining three who had disagreed outright. Had it not been considered gloating, Khari would have beamed - others were less than subtle about their reaction to the outcome, good or bad, with some choosing to utter their outrage at a less than quiet tone. Khari had heard all the insults before, multiple times, it was preferrable to acquire a thick skin else someone tended to wither and die pretty quickly after ascending to office. Whatever her peers views, the fact of the matter was that they now had the majority and this meant the green light was now on one stage of their plan. Good times ahead, she thought silently, and affored Rhy a judicious nod.
"That concludes everything I wished to bring to your attention. However, I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the Kuhlvults." Khari said, genuine enough, while she wouldn't be missing Kaur, the events that had seen his demise were pretty horriffic "You have my word that a thorough investigation into Kaur's death is being carried out as we speak. Should you have any queries, I am certain Colonel Klask will be more than happy to help." She never uttered the fateful 'within reason'. It was better that way.
"Don't concern yourself so, we will be carrying out an investigation of our own, of course, we'll be in touch." Was the reply, in that almost condescendingly mistrustful way.
Khari's smile was saccharine, "I am sure you will. If there is little else to discuss, I suggest we ajourn."
At her word, many of the younger members of the ruling households began to leave their seats for the exits, the elders sticking around for smalltalk and minor discussion. Khari on the other hand felt a great sense of relief and elation, at least she could sleep tonight. On her way down from the speakers stand, she nodded her thanks to the Colonel, saying nothing, there was nothing left to say - she had kept her word and he had kept his, all was right with the universe.
Picking her way through the crowd, she went to rejoin Anara, who was now standing curiously close to the telbun Khari had brought with her, to the point where she was tempted to interrupt any possible conversation with a "Be nice" type comment. When she realized they weren't saying much between them, as would be expected, that set her mind a tad more at ease. That and there wasn't a chance Tress would feel her pinch his backside through all that heavily oppressive cloth. So no argument.
"Alls well that ends well?" Anara asked when Khari drew close enough, earning her a smile from her daughter.
"You could say that, there's a long road ahead of us, but this incident won't go unmarked and that is the main thing. I will have the information you will need sent to you by the end of today." When she observed the older Vestra, she noticed her look bizarrely over at the Knylenns, or rather one in particullar, her attention drawn just for a moment - be it in appraisal or dislike, Khari could not tell. But it was enough to make her tut and shake her head.
"Really, Rhy Knylenn? What is going on there anyhow? He seemed very displeased with you this morning. Something to do with his missing hat?" She asked suspiciously, perhaps she didn't want to know.
Anara held herself aloft, all the airs of a person who was trying not to care. "I seem to recall you were quite taken with him once, my dear, and how should I know?"
"If I recall rightly, my being 'taken' with him, was entirely down to the fact you kept trying to utilize me as an excuse for him being around whenever it suited your whims. Engineering is not being taken, though you did take...he's practically the same age as me." Khari hissed slightly annoyed by that implication, she'd done nothing of the sort!
"Did I do such a bad job of bringing you up? You really can have it all, but if someone my own age is what you're referring to, maybe I should...that Colonel you introduced earlier looked rather interesting, wouldn't you agree?" Khari could almost see her mother expecting the inevitable cringe, it would be forthcoming. There was also no point in uttering the 'don't you dare' that was forming on her tongue. So when Anara bid her a curt farewell, turning to the main circle to cross the floor, Khari was left stunned as to what she witnessed next...and a great deal of cringing was to be had.
Passing Klask, who had yet to make a move for the doors himself, the senator casually held a hand out to one side and gave Klask a resounding pat on the rump, breezing on by to where Rhy was standing, conversing with another member of his household.
Back where Anara had left them, Khari turned to Tress conspiratorially, and winced. "For the record, my upbringing, that was all her telbun's work."

Rhy looked over at that one, his gaze went from Khari to the Kehlvults side where they gathered. He knew there was something going on there, was partly why he came back to Kuat for. He also remembered the KSF officer hitting him over the head and was about to speak up and charge into that here while everyone was present but interrupted by others.
"Yes, I was sorry to hear of of Kaur passing in such a tragic accident." Sarasi said to the Kehlvult side of the table.
Even the rest of the council nodded in agreement for whatever their reasons. Rhy was only fuming for the interruption of his rant, in the end he forgets about it and waits around as the others leave the room. The meeting over they all had to do something.
He waited as Khari and Anara finished their conversation before speaking up. "Anara a word in private?"
"Understood, wife. Now about finishing what we started....." Tress as the disguised telbun says so only she heard. "Time to leave." then pulls her out of the room leaving Rhy and Anara time to talk.

The Senator had been heading that way anyway when Rhy had spoken up. As things went, she had something of a score to settle with him anyway, a word was exactly what she had in mind. He'd just named her executor of everything he held important here on world, which would have been fine except that included not one, but two kid brothers who werent anywhere near coming of age yet. He'd essentially rendered her a surrogate mother all over again. Had she not been standing in a room full of her peers, her reaction would have been far from as gracious as it had been when he made that announcement. That - Anara grumbled inwardly - had not been part of the plan.
"Yes of course, I was rather hoping to catch you myself, we have a lot to discuss."
Khari had long since lost interest in what had rankled her mother, though the decision to defect the care of the two Knylenn heirs to Anara had been something of a quandry even she couldn't fathom. Anara wasn't exactly the most maternal of women, nor did she know too many high class Kuati women who were...this was going to be interesting. Not least of all because Khari remembered those two afformentioned heirs from less formal gatherings, they were quite the hanful.
"Either she's taking this very well or she's actually going over there to kill him." She said to the robed figure standing directly to her right, "My credits are on the latter."
Facing him she quirked one eyebrow quizically, then let that smile play fully across her lips. As much as she thought she would chafe under that title, she quite liked it coming from him. She only took a moment to glance back and see what Tress was looking at to agree with him whole heartedly, as much fun as watching the fireworks would be, there were other things she'd much rather be doing. And, as he had so rightly pointed out, they hadn't exactly had much of a honeymoon.
"I couldn't have put it better myself." Khari commented knowingly, "Just do me one small favour when we get back will you? Lose the robes, I'm starting to feel like you should be walking ten paces behind me." She didn't need to add the part where she'd have said she didn't trust him to do so without event, it was already in the tone of her voice.
Following the path or the crowd, she departed with him for the outside, more than happy to be leaving behind them the high vaulted conference hall, the battle already partially won, they were well on their way to a bright new future.
Hanging back, Anara had watched the last of the delegates file out, until there were just a few stragglers filtering out, idly biding her time with general chit chat when finally, the last person let the doors swoosh to a gentle close. At last - she thought - she could get all this out in the open.
"And just what do you thing you were doing?! Naming me executor, I'm touched you think I am trustworthy enough to do so, but your brothers, Rhy?! I am not a telbun!" The senator hissed at a less than subtle level, index finger jutting directly at the center of his chest, "Do they not have one already? Surely you cannot have been their soul carer?" The idea was mind boggling to her.

He knew he had shocked her, he had intended to in the first place. This was what had to be done, and he trusted her out of all the others more than anyone other than Khari. His little brother would run the family when he came of age, but until then Anara would be his guardian. The fact that he now had an inexcusable excuse to meet with her or call her to check up on things was a nice benefit and one that she couldn't deny him. "Yes,as you say, alot to discuss."
Tress didn't move to look their way, just kept looking forward still acting his part, though he did whisper back. "She'd ruin our time table." he chuckled at the thought. "But, it would be fun if she did, she would be helping us out."
Time was wasting and he didn't want to waste anymore.
"I think i like them, other than them trapping in the heat and the weight of them, its quite nice being naked underneath them....." he added innocently. "Maybe we can finish things on the way?" he questioned her as he glanced side ways at her. "That wait until we're back and disappear for a few more days..." She could answer that on the way, he was in a hurry, so he let her guide him out of the room to where she wanted.
Hanging back, Anara had watched the last of the delegates file out, until there were just a few stragglers filtering out, idly biding her time with general chit chat when finally, the last person let the doors swoosh to a gentle close. At last - she thought - she could get all this out in the open.
Rhy waited until everyone had left before walking toward the doors to close them himself. Things he had to tell her were private.
He looked down and put his hand over her wrist. "I never had a telbun, and our fathers telbun was let go after the disgrace of the family. Ever since then loyal servants have helped raise him while i tried to regain what we had." he told her truthfully. "Your the one i trust, other than Khari."

Knowing better than to glance back, or even in the direction of the man speaking to her, Khari nodded once affirmatively, Anara would have saved them a job sooner or later. Hearing it in such plaintive words, though, brought home the true cost of what they were putting into actions here, she had been down that road before, to disasterous effect. Guilt, some said, was a small price to pay for happiness - never was that statement more grossly false than the instance that had brought her here. Not that she would feel guilt over Rhy, he and his family had been something of a nuisance to the ruling households since his kin, a one Khoss of Knylenn, had tried to overturn the inherritance excemption all by himself, to place one of their family in the seat of power. That elaborate plot had been thwarted, however. And for what? Thought Khari, for the excemption to be overturned anyway, the Kuat family had all been but wiped out shortly thereafter.
"Then let us hope she doesn't help us out too soon. She can keep an eye on him for us, I'm sure it won't pain her to do so." She enthused with a small cringe, whatever Anara chose to do with Rhy was all her own business, she didn't want to know details. "Though you have to admit, that was a lucky escape on our part. For a while there I thought he was going to bequeath those children to us."
A second's further thought had her wondering if that would have actually been beneficial to the children in question. They would grow up with a sense of style and subtelty, that was for sure. Happy to vacate the room before further incident, she stuck close to Tress, leaving Rhy to close the door behind them.
They had scarcely made it halfway through the recption area when he hit her with that interesting little piece of news. While it wasn't unheard of, she definitely hadn't told him that's how they were meant to be worn and the casual way in which he had uttered those fateful words had her sputtering for words of her own to reply. He'd thrown her completely out of step. Evidently, it had been a long day, and it was just beginning.
"I imagine that's exactly why they make those robes so thick and cumbersome." Khari managed a few moments later, a total fabrication on her part but some thought leant a lot to the debate. "When she was certain he was looking her way, she continued, "Makes things far easier for those acts of convenience."
Expression straight and aloof, they managed to make it to the main doors of the building without Khari cracking so much as a flicker of a smile. In a wave of passing ornate durasteel, the breeze rolled through the open space, pleasantly cooling her skin and teasing slender tendrils of her hair away from where they had hung about her shoulders. It had been something of a rush to get here, she'd scrimped on time as far as appearences went and rush jobs could only hold up so long. She had more than approved of his idea though, in theory and essence. There had long been talk of them getting away from Kuat for a little while, though this wasn't what he was hinting at here, either instance had it's appeal. Or both at once - she thought, which actually did bring a smile to her full lips.
The irksome fact of the matter was this: she needed to be within contactable distance of KDY for the next few months, if just to see this transitional period through. It both enamoured and disappointed her, but she couldn't be bitter, it was what she had wanted after all.
"How do you feel about mixing business and pleasure? We have been denied a honeymoon, and I would like to check up on a few of our little investments, if you're with me, at some point in the near future. It would be a shame to squander the opportunity." Not the most romantic of locations but something was better than nothing, and if you knew where to visit, one might just be surprised at what they could find there. She had fond memories of their meeting place on Obroa Skai - not so fond ones when she had nearly lost him off of that balcony. That had been a close call.
****
Begrudgingly, Senator Anara Vestra watched as Rhy purposefully closed the doors to the convocation chamber and ambled his way back to where she stood waiting. This had better be good, he'd been in a foul mood all morning - not that she blamed him, he was young and had yet to understand the necessity of keeping one's emotions in check. Tyber hadn't helped matters much with those off handed comments of his, but he was what he was and seemed to enjoy rattling the younger man more than anything. Well...almost anything.
"I assume there is a purpose to all of this?" She asked, gesticulating encompassingly to the vaulted space around them, voice echoing strangely in the room's now empty atrium.
"A change of heart, perhaps? That was a very good performance earlier, on your part. I would not be surprised if the Kadnessi will now be eating out of the palm of your hand. Interesting plan, I would have liked to have been consulted. But I understand the necessity for privacy." Anara held up one index finger poigniantly, "But, that doesn't explain what this is all about."
He had reached to within a few meters of her now, so when she turned to rest back against the huge table, the touch of his hand surprised her, drawing her attention back to where he now stood, all ears.
That wasn't a remarkable practice by all accounts, it was how some preferred to raise their children. And, in the absence of a significant parent, often the only way to do it. In the case of Rhy and his brothers, the latter was most applicable. Personally, Anara had never been the naturally maternal sort, bringing up her soul heir the traditional way. It had left her free to persue her career - as things should be.
"Of course, and you have my condolences in regards to your father, I was saddened to hear of his passing." If this was sincere or not, it would have been hard to tell, the politician's masque of deadpan seriousness seemed to affect her even when she was not gracing the senate floor. Rhy's father had, like most of his family, suffered decades of disgrace as a result of Khoss' actions that day, many weren't yet willing to forget the traitorous actions.
"Some may advise that your trust in me was unwise, are you certain you do not wish to reconsider?" Let the children go to Khari, get them out of her hair, it would be punishment enough for marrying that Zann boy when she had been vehimently against it. One thing she would absolutely not do, was suggest it was because she was too old to be looking after them, that chasing them around a large estate all day would leave her no time to herself and no energy to do just about anything. And speaking of anything...thought Anara, with a wry glance at her counterpart.
"Khari would have been a much better choice, no doubt she is already considering having children of her own. What better practice than to tackle the task of looking after your two little...darlings." She had had to force that last word out - she remembered the Knylenn brothers well, from less ostere gatherings, those where younger members of the households were permitted. Trouble incarnate didn't quite cover it.

"That was his plan, until i hinted Anara being single being the best option and of course she raised you was added into the argument." He said solemnly as they walked on. No way was he going to allow two kids to be dropped off at their doorstep unless they were their own. He chuckled knowing what trouble was in store for Anara, too.
"I would agree, though they do leave a person feeling vulnerable if you get my drift. " he said, though his thoughts were on her hint of convenience. He had been thinking that same thing when he dressed this morning. Fun times and surprises where always welcome changes when it came down to boring meetings.
"Business and pleasure? I say, yes to both." He liked the way she thought, yes, he was interested in doing things like that. "Where to first? Do we need to tell anyone and last but not least, can we leave right now?"
****
"Thank you, if i didn't express it before. I know this must come as a shock, i was planning on telling you last night but....well, there wasn't time." was what came out as he looked at her. It was the only thing open to him, anyone else and they would have spent or taken over his families inheritance.
He nodded his head for her condolences over his father passing, it was over, but he appreciated the sentiment. The rest was something he hadn't expected, thinking she would jump at the chance to help him and control a small fortune in the process. Her telbun could be tutor and she could act as if nothing had happened.
"Khari was going to be my first choice, but Odak-Zann recommended you. Expressed his belief of you being the better candidate to do this for me. After all look at the fine job you have done with Khari." He spoke almost copying Tress word for word. Let him be the target while he did one last thing he wanted to do before he left.
"I have to leave shortly, so i wanted a chance to do something before i left and i am doing it right now...." he pulled her closer and kissed her.

A soft and unrelenting chuckle eminated from Khari's direction, and only grew a little louder by the time that he was done talking. Did he realize just what he had saved them from? He must have, because he'd averted disaster with that suggestion - perhaps caused another one, those kids were going to run rings around her mother, this she knew because she had been something of a troublesome child herself. The difference was, she was sharp enough to have hidden what she was up to. Unfortunately for the younger her, her mother's telbun was even sharper, the times he had told her off for sneaking out off on some adventure or another. The tales that man could have told people didn't bear thinking about, perhaps, she thought in retrospect, she should have bought his silence.
Slipping an arm through the crook of his, she tugged him gently to a halt, then turned him with both hands on each one of his upper arm to face her, the light of amusement dancing in her eyes as plain as day. Then she leaned in and kissed him through the veil that hid all but his eyes from the word, noting subconsciously that it really was a cumbersome nuisance to have that fabric in the way, thin or not. "Did I ever tell you that I love you when you're being resourceful?" Khari commented cooly, sighing immediately thereafter and giving that veil a prominent tug, she had taken a step back to look at him. "Yes, we definitely need to lose the robes."
"What do the feelings and vulnerabilities of a telbun matter? They are property." She knew that would get under his skin, it got under the skin of the majority of off worlders, but she hadn't meant it literally, only just to see if it would rankle him a little. Then she could protest her mock innocence over the matter. Khari hadn't meant any real offense, he wasn't her telbun, that she had made clear from the outset. There was a lot she had made clear during those confusing times, concerned that he'd see her like all the rest, spoiled, snobbish and abrasive at the best of times - and maybe she was. But not unreasonable.
The kuati was as keen as he was to leave, though. Casting a brief gaze over the grounds and waiting transports. Theirs wasn't far from the doors.
"That's the beauty of being in charge; delegation. If I want to vanish for a little while, there are others that can keep things ticking over in my stead. I'm sure they won't need me for much for a good day or so yet. These meetings, they can take up to a week if an agreement is not reached." While speaking, she had been signalling to the driver of their speeder to meet them where they stood. She wasn't going to go all the way over there and interrupt a perfectly good conversation now, was she. And there was that subtle cringe again, Khari felt it deep within, pertaining to her earlier train of thought. Ok...so she was spoilt, but still not unreasonable.
"Leaving right now is exactly what I had in mind. I have some surfaces at my residence that need clearing in a hurry. It won't wait..." All slyness and muted, she added the last word as an intentional mirth filled after thought, "Hubby."

He stopped and looked at her. "So basically every second of the day?" he was joking with her partly, the other part of him was teasing her to see how she responded. "I kind of like these robes, I get to sneak into places anywhere you would be...could be useful"
They had walked on and close to her apartments when she said that one, he stopped and held her up by grabbing her hand. He broke character, but it was worth it to argue the point with her. "Slaves, are property to be sold and used. Telbuns are basically prostitutes where their families sell them for certain....duties." he glared at her, but then gave her a lopsided grin. "Duties i have taken upon myself to fulfill i think since i am now acting as your telbun...wife."
He knew it would either push the right buttons or she would see it as retaliation for her comment. Either way it was going to be a fun agreement.
"We need to pack, I want to go on that tour before things get built up and we are busier."
"Thats what i love about you, your open to adventure and excitement. Where to first?" he asks her walking past her to step inside the apartment .
He caught that last part and looked her way with a raised brow. "Hubby?" he walked toward her, a look in his eye that said something was coming, run or stay to face it. "Its Mr Odak-Zann, if you will..."

She stopped suddenly, enough to have made him bump into her if he had been a couple of paces behind her, when he began proffessing like that. Amusement dancing in her dark eyes, as she pivoted slightly, slowly as if an invisible fluid force had made her turn like that, to face him completely. By the way that the corners of her mouth were trying their hardest not to tug upwards, Khari was obviously holding back laughter and doing a bad job of hiding it. In the end, all she did was reach around slightly and tap the back of his ridiculously tall, heavy hat, forcing it off angle which brought it down over his eyes without knocking it completely off of his head.
Acting as if nothing at all had just happened there, she continued on her way with a simple "And modest too." as his reply.
The walk, though, had been exactly what she needed. A chance to clear her head on solid ground, breathing real air from real oxygen giving sources as opposed to the recycled and conditioned air pumpted constantly through KDY's life support systems each second of every day. Surprisingly, this little, seemingly inocuous attribute, made a great deal of difference. Gone were the tensions headaches, with the end of that meeting no doubt, and the constant need to scrape together some time where she could speak freely without being bothered by the day to day runnings of the orbital shipyards. The latter one would be short lived, though, Tress was about to point out, they were woefully short on time, there was a pressing need to get to other business, before they finished theirs.
It surprised her, when she felt him take her hand there for a moment, breaking cover in a very public place a risk she wouldn't have taken personally, but this was Tress she was thinking about. He tended to take liberties and miraculously get away with them. Khari decided that if she ever learned of a way to market that and sell it, that she would do just that. It would make them a small fortune, the likes of which KDY couldn't eclipse. Doing her utmost to look every bit the haughty mistress, who's daily goings on had been interrupted by someone beneath her - it wasn't difficult to slip into that guise, perhaps she should have been ashamed of that? - she took in every word, not that they hadn't both been here before, their views would always differ but he would test those boundaries every so often, if just to get a rise out of her.
"Not quite the same as a prostitute, let's not discredit them that much. They can opt out of the program any time they like before selection." She didn't like to stress the before part of that equation. After purchase there was no get out clause, save for desertion or death. It had been known in the past, her own had seemed to prefer the latter. That was different though, she reminded herself bitterly, he'd been hell bent on extortion, she was merely removing a problem.
"Too bad for you." With a wink, she slipped his hand's grasp freely and approached the door to the apartment, keying in the combination and letting the retinal scanner get a good look at her before the doors slid open. A cool conditioned breeze rolled out from within, along with it the scent of familiar spaces, it really was good to be home, her home, for however short a time.
"It seems we spend our entire lives packing, I don't know why we bother to unpack to begin with." Khari jested, following him in every bit as graciously as he'd gone in before her. Nobody seemed to be around, there wasn't anyone to think it odd. But as the doors closed behind them, she visibly dropped the act like the heavy burden it was and debated slumping down upon the richly appointed couch that dominated the center of a nearby lounge area, immaculately cleaned as ever. For once she was glad of the extra expense it took to keep this place as pristine as it was, the last time she had been here it had been before her trip to Obroa Skai, the place should be under six feet of dust.
Resisting the lure of the plush furnishings, she headed towards the staircase, light on her feet.
"Make yourself at home," the kuati called back to him, he could follow if he so wished, but she supposed he felt every bit as lethargic as she did, especially with those heavy robes on, "It is your home now, after all."
Having reached the top of the stairs, she paused suddenly, leaning against the hand rail as something dawned on her mind, the realisation having just hit her. This was their home now, just as those he held on Coruscant and Anaxes both were too. Her quiet moment of reflection caused a smile to blossom on her features, and she looked back over her shoulder at him there, in the main room. She had a good feeling about this.
Aloof and amused, she had taken that on the chin, but not without consequences. "Not while you're wearing those robes you're not; Vestra Kharitel." The quip of what would have been his kuati possessive title, had he been her telbun, would surely get an equal reaction. He always had ample opportunity to get her back for little things like that, knowing fine well she would retalliate at a moment most opportune to her. That was how it went with them, and it probably always would.
"Any preference of where you would like to start, I have a suggestion if our need wasn't more pressing. I was thinking we should get this issue resolved as soon as possible. We can't have the Corellians doubting our security procedures if we are to gain a good foothold in CEC...the Dooku issue I mean." And here came the big one, she thought as she felt the caution within her veins rise, "I think we will need some help with that, perhaps kill two gundarks with one boulder. I think it's time someone brought this force user issue to the attention of those who weild it. I wish to speak to the Jedi."

He stopped just in time from bumping into her, then she turned and looked at him. Something he said, no doubt, which his veils covered his smirk from her. The slap at the back of his head forcing his hat over his eyes earned her a glare once he fixed it, but he followed her again once she walked off.
He chuckled about that one, but thats how he viewed them now. Sold to the highest bidder to procreated the next generation and left to care for the end result and basically forgotten. It was far from the truth, but he only said it to get a rise from her.
Then she left him thinking of her last parting comment. Being her telbun wouldnt be that bad,...well, some of their duties wouldn't be in any case, he thought with a chuckle. Soon after he found himself inside her apartments taking off his tall hat and looking around.
"Have to learn to travel light, Khari." he tells her as he goes to pour himself a drink at the bar. "That and leaving the necessary things on board our ships for emergencies." Dress items for formal occasions or other state functions. Its how he did it just to traveled light. Didn't even have to pack he had what he needed on his ship.
He looked over his shoulder at her, "Its my home now?" he smiled at that. Anywhere with her was home now, though it was good they didn't have to talk about stuff. It was just theirs now and that was that. Loved that about her, it was her he wanted and not her possessions.
Sitting down and taking an taste of something strong he had pour, he almost spit the liquid out. "Vestra Kharitel?" he glared at her. "Wife, don't push it." he joked ready to act on her slightest teasing.
"Where ever you need to go first, I am along for the ride really. Though, Corellia is a good place to start. Could kill three gundarks with one boulder. Need to see where they stand on this CSA vote coming up, might as well ask them while there?" he looked at he to see what she thought. "Dont actually need their vote one way or the other, but being that we are polite...."

Travelling light was one thing, travelling threadbare was another, did he realize what he was asking when he said that? No, she supposed not. They hadn't really done much serious travelling together, and he had never accompanied her to any official meetings offworld. She knew little to nothing of the women he had been seeing in the past, but he was about to learn the hard way just how light Kuati women tended to travel.
"You, my dear, have much to learn." She tossed that his way with a smile and a knowing wink, "But if it's practical you want, I can slim down my selection as much as possible. So never let it be said I didn't do anything for you, I have just saved you a sprain or two."
The good thing about her was that she rarely had a complete sense of humour failure, when fate was on her side anyway. Other times it took next to nothing to get her, unfortunately for her, he had an undeniably good way of working out which was which.
She was half way up the long, sweeping staircase when it struck her what else he'd said there. Pausing she glanced back at him making himself at home, helping himself to whatever was there as if he'd settled in already - and there he was asking that question like he'd expected something else. Should that have come as a surprise to her though? Most women in her position wouldn't have even considered marriage as a viable option, much less sharing everything they owned with a man - it was an option she, herself, had denounced on many an occasion. Irony, she had learned, wasn't bad at all sometimes.
"This, my wing of the estate, my quarters at the orbital shipyards, my shuttle, I have a large apartment on Coruscant and I believe I have property somewhere on Bespin..." Raising a hand to her chin pensively, her gaze narrowed just slightly, distantly, "...a spur of the moment bid at an auction. I'm not really sure what possessed me. Anyway, that is as much mine as it is yours now. As is that pink ship of yours."
There was that wince again, she hadn't been looking forward to readdressing that incident. It had certainly ended interestingly for the both of them, after a turning point. If he was thinking about shooting her again, though, he really would feel the wrath of her ire.
"I hope you don't mind, but I took a small liberty. I had it resprayed..." At this point she threw both hands up placatingly, warding off all protest until he'd heard her out, "To the original blaster-metal grey it was when your grandfather gifted it to you. Consider it a peace offering and...apology."
He would never know how difficult it was for someone like her to actually admit they were wrong, much less apologise.
Khari's face was a picture when he almost spat that liquid all over the plush white carpet on the apartment floor. Nothing the cleaning staff couldn't handle, or she couldn't replace at a moments notice, but the thought of going to all that trouble had her eyes going momentarily wide, mouth open in a protest that never came forth. Tress, however, just settled back, swallowing the drink and responding as she expected, jovially. Too relieved, that he hadn't just cost her a small fortune in carpet replacement, to continue that joke, she merely conceeded that one and moved onto the more serious topic of where they were headed.
"Then Corellia it is, it seems the most prudent considering the recent news out of that sector. No time like the present, our appearence might be seen as a sign that we wish to honour our agreement with them whatever the current climate. And we could use all the votes in favour of this motion that we can garner for them." What they didn't want to do was be seen to be meddling in Corellian affairs, not beyond the point of aid. That would be counter productive on all fronts.
"And it would do the Jedi good to see, first hand, the kinds of issues we are facing as a result of Dooku's crimes - what better place than where he is currently enacting them now?"
Leaving him with that thought, she made her way up and into her rooms, going about the least difficult of all her tasks and picking out which items to bring and which to leave behind. It would only take her an hour - quite a expedient time considering that which it took most.

"Slim down your selection?" he was wondering just what she meant by that, that wink and smile had put him on guard. "Tell me you don't mean to wear something like that flight suit you once wore...if i remember correctly, well, lets just say you can take your time to pack." he added with a chuckle. He would never be able to see an pilots outfit int he same way anymore. "I'll call some droids or hire someone to help with everything. Will keep them on the ship from now on so we can be ready at a moments notice." He was intent on her swaying hips as they walked up the stairs that he finally realized what she had listed. "Well, now i have always wanted to visit Bespin......" He stopped at the mention of his pink shuttle, glaring at her over her prank, though he guessed now was a perfect time for him to tell her what shes getting since they hadn't really spoken about such things. "I should tell you I have a house on Anaxes, other than the families estate. Another on Coruscant, and one on Nar Shaddaa. Though that one is more of a safe house, as its underneath a seedy cantina there." the rest were the Consortium's properties or safe houses they used. Legitimately or through business fronts. Docks, warehouses, office builds things of that nature. Though they were more assets than anything, banks tended to ask to many questions so the money was used to buy real estate on various worlds that would get sold later at a profit or at a loss. " There is a small bank account at the Bank of the Core...." could thank the Emperor for that one. "...and thank you for the repainting of our ship." he added, it was now hers, too. He watched her, thinking and scheming as she packed. "True, there is that. Think it wise to whisper to the holonets news agency we are heading that way?" It was more for publicity over this Force user trend of violence. Bring the public up to speed and see where they sided. " Could help the cause further and add pressure to everyone responsible or had a hand in it."The trip was bothering him, with the Grey Kage out there attacking for whatever reason. The RGE possibly behind his release to seek to destabilize the shipping industry to step in as saviors. What ever they case he wanted to be prepared. "Been thinking of what we can take with us, this is almost a diplomatic visit or business visit, but with the way things are out there. I'd like to take stop by Rendili and pick up one of their new ships designs...one KDY has been working on with them. The Strident Assault Cruiser ring any bells?" he stepped further inside and sat at the window sill looking out at landscape. "That is unless they sent one here for drive testing on Ronay?" The ship could be useful, in both showing what they had been working on and a deterrent for those reckless enough to mess with them. "I was thinking a Strident Cruiser and two KDY corvettes. We aren't going for war after all just a small contingent to keep us safe."starwarsdictatorship.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=swdcanon&action=display&thread=347

By now she had disappeared into her rooms, hearing him follow some paces behind her and taking his time over it too. She on the other hand was making good of her promise and making this quick, he wasn't the only one who felt like he was standing on a hot plate. Khari had long wanted to get this aspect of the plan over with so that they could get onto more interesting and profitable matters. A pity that their honeymoon had to be the sacrifice though, she intended to do a lot to make up for that at every given opportunity too, but needs must - as always.
His little quip about that flightsuit made her smirk. She was standing over a large dresser unit, sifting through various items of clothing, so her face would have been hidden from view, her back to him completely. But even he would have heard the smirk in her voice, as rueful a tone as she tried to make it.
"Tactical skinsuit," She corrected him, which was true enough, that was what it had been, essentially a body glove created for stealth, restyled for the fashion conscious. Practical had never looked so good, on the right person. It also left very little to the imagination in terms of how it clung to all the right places. "And I seem to recall you made short work of that one in your eagerness to prove a point."
Spinning round to face him, a bundle of clothes, neatly folded in one hand, she crossed the floor and set them out on the bed before locating some travel containers to pile them in. Passing Tress for the third time, she slid a hand from the back of one shoulder, horizontally across to the other as she went. "So naturally I acquired another. Try not to tear big gaping holes in this one though, they are one of a kind..." Suddenly realizing how that might sound to any of the staff overhearing them, she could scarcely hold herself back to add "...Next thing you know, you'll be wearing my underwear."
Between them they had a sizable estate, good news for any resulting offspring, though she was keeping quiet about that for as long as she would. The public at large didn't know anything about this secret deal, nor indeed who she had just gone into business with, who she had married. Were this all to become known at the wrong time, it could spell ruin for them both. With her telbun mysteriously missing - not that anyone aside from her immediate family and staff had asked - suddenly producing a child would raise more than the casual eyebrow.
"I couldn't very well travel around in a pink ship, Tress. I have an image to uphold." The jest was deliberate, all part of their usual banter, he gave as good as he got. Her demeanour did quickly soften though. "Thank you, though, I appreciate the gesture...I was thinking of taking something a tad more...substantial?" It had been all over the holonet lately, the conflict surrounding Corellia and it's supposed allies. Their presence would either be seen as an act of good faith, or it might be viewed as bolster. What she didn't want it to look like, was an occupation. Their links with the imperials could well upset many of those who weren't entirely in the know yet.
The Jedi issue was another matter all together.
Khari placed both hands flat on the container's lid and applied pressure, using her whole weight to squish the thing shut. Even when she was traveling light, she seemed to end up with the same ammount of luggage.
"A word in the right ear would be prudent, and fortuitous if others here get wind of it. It shows that we are making good of our word. You, however, they would be suspicious of. You were here as an imperial liason, it would look highly suspect if you appeared to be accompanying me. At this stage, at least." A burden laden sigh escaped her, "Speaking of which, have you handed in your resignation?"
The lid of the container she had been filling popped open again with an irritating crack, and Khari's expression grew suddenly sullen. This time, not only did she shut it again the same way that she had previously, but she then sat on it to ensure it didn't fly open again.
"Excellent choice of ship, though. That would be ideal, though I suggest we take more than just the one. We don't know, exactly, what we will be flying into until the last moment, the hypercomm has been patchy at best when entering their system. The holonet isn't always an accurate source either."
That put pay to contacting the Jedi along the way...but she wasn't beaten by far.
