Contents
Geography:
Tion was largely covered by a world-spanning ocean and orbited two large stars. The planet was also orbited by three industrialized moons with one of them hosting a spaceport.[3]
History:
One of the original member-worlds of the Kingdom of Cron, it was absorbed into Xim's empire. After the fall of the empire in 25,100 BBY, it would eventually join the Galactic Republic. It would continue to thrive as a world, eventually joining the Cronese Mandate after the rise of the Galactic Empire.
Relatively untouched by the fall of the Empire, the local garrison and defense fleet were integrated into the new independent government.
A core of former Imperials and heads of Industrial Conglomerates on the moons entered into negotiations following the fall of Palaptine. Combining their assets, they formed the "New Elite" of the society and set up a nominal government that has held to this day. While the planet is not wealthy, it is far from impoverished. Tion enjoys trade with both the RGE, the GA and many other independent worlds. Enough to the present day that while many grumble about the lack of the working class of the planet having true representation, there has been no impetus to change. Jobs are plentiful, and wages good.
In the last few months however, scores of displaced persons from the YV wars have started coming into system seeking to start a new life here. This has caused a little anger of the native populace, which the government has dispelled by creating refugee camps for the new arrivals. Viewed as underclass and non-citizens many cannot find work, and the poverty of this class has led to an influx of drugs and other illegal trade with the Hutts.
At the end of the 3rd month of 34 ABY, open warfare and rebellion broke out among factions of the citizenry. A new government led by the Self-Proclaimed Emperor, Aslan Mund came to power.
