Remaining swathed in the long, strangely dead-life of the cloak she had been permitted to wear as opposed to her own, Kaalyanii had merely been an observer of proceedings thus far, taking her cues from those around her, entrusting much to their judgement. They knew better than she, here. While she had never been a part of the occupation of Kuat during the Yuuzhan Vong war, she knew what havoc their forces had wreaked upon the people of the world they now orbited. Though oddly, the shipyards they had left relatively alone, it was a late occupation, she surmised, it would have been deemed unimportant compared to the sudden press for security on Yuuzhan'tar. Nas Choka's reign as warmaster had been a stark opposite to that of his predecessor, Tsavong Lah. Had Lah been alive to see the taking of Kuat, there was a strong possibility this installation that rested beneath her very feet would not be here.
In knowing that much, she knew precisely why the Kuati directly opposite Kommisar had noticably shown her disdain when the Yuuzhan Vong had been mentioned. It was the same reaction that her species equated with a shrug, the wrinkling of the nose ridge and that subtle flare of nostril all accompanied with a frown of their strangely rounded foreheads that to humans and many humanoids, was a sign of disapproval. This did not discourage Kaalyanii at all, rather, she took it as yet another trial and tribulation to overcome. In time, she hoped, the Kuati would reap the benefits of this joint venture, and perhaps restore their name also.
It was this direct avenue of passive attack that she hoped to strike a chord with the CEO here. Hoped to evoke a positive response through something they might well have in common.
As Kommisar finished his preparation, introducing her in the next instance, the former shamed one stepped forth, the single stride taking her knee to table edge in less than a second, betraying a honed agility, even in such small a motion as that, something in the way she moved bespoke of a warriors past. And that is all it shall be, my past...
If the one known as Khari domain Vestra was intimidated by the Yuuzhan Vong's sheer size, she didn't show it, still remaining to retain the vaneer of impassivity, calm, poised and proper no matter what the subject. Kaalyanii reflected that had she been willing to lose the rather perculiar nose all humans were born with, and acquired a few good, honest scars and domain markings, she could have been mistaken in her stoic nature for a member of the deception sect. And by all accounts the Kuati had much to hide...much of what they had passed on their way to the stardocks had been only for display, the real work going on behind the huge shrouds that cloaked newly forged vessels in the making.
Peeling back the hood of her cloak to reveal a gaunt human face of indeterminable age, her true face concealed by the ooglith masquer that clung to her every pore, she had to wonder if those present knew what she was regardless. There were looks of surprise among the group, mainly security, who were keeping a tight grip on those weapons at all times. As if she would have made a grab for them anyway, her entire body was a weapon should she wish to use it.
"I bring you these plans in made-thing form, biots would never have made it past your tight security, If there are any mistranslations, Khari domain Vestra, ask of me what you will and I will translate in as literal terms as I am able." In those few words she knew the yanskac was out of the brazier and into the fire breather, she may well have thrown herself upon her own coufee here, but it needed to be done and the CEO needed to be aware of just what an alliance would entail. Even if that meant working side by side with those they would have once done everything in their power to try and destroy.
The seconds that followed were so tense, Kaalyanii could smell it, the sensory biots implanted into her slashed nasal cavity picking up several subtle undertones, enough to allow her to assume that the Kuati had worked it out from the second she had been introduced. Now came the inevitable.

The idea of giving back the Kage's living ship had never struck her as a good one, gestures of good will were never extended in the direction of would be terrorists and psychotics, if she wanted to commit political suicide, that would have been a garunteed means of doing so. By handing over that ship, Selena, they would be setting the example to trillions that Kuat Drive Yards would allow disasters of this magnitude to occur and the purpetrator could walk away with everything they came with. Preposterous, utterly foolish.
"And what, then, is to stop the Kage from returning to the Kuat system and attempting something on a grand scale? It cannot have escaped your intelligence teams that he is so clearly a sick man, at the very least troubled." They hadn't yet informed her of just how Corey was being treated, whether or not he would be released, but when he was, he would be required to stand trial for all the damage he had caused. The Ten wouldn't stand for less.
Khari shook her head, the finely adorned crystaline clinging to her earlobes clinking melodically against one another as she did so, not yet understanding where Kommisar wished to go with that matter in particular. She wasn't going to be the one to sanction it if the reasons behind his proposal was not a very good one.
So there it was, all plainly laid out for her to consider, or the beginnings there of. And it did not escape the Kuati in the slightest that there was the destinct possibility the imperials had been doing some digging of their own into their more covert operations here. Industrial espionage was a problem that had grown increasingly profound after the war with the Yuuzhan Vong, with populations and workforces thrown into the chaos of often starting from scratch, who could tell who was truly trustworthy anymore when the administration was flooded with applicants all at once? There simply wasn't the resources to do a background check on everyone. Though Khari was beginning to wish she had done so in regards to Colonel Klask.
He brought them here, she thought, He let them wedge a foot in the door. He might have some use to her yet.
The revelation that the Empire had been considering much the same as they had, however, was exceedingly interesting, and she canted her head slightly to the side, sliding a sidelong glance at Tress in pensive interest. She was listening.
"Then I would tell you I would be delighted to hear more." Came her soft reply, her eyes looking between Kommisar and his still-silent companion. What was her story? She would wager that they were about to find out.
A single emphatic chop of the head indicated she was of like mind, that Kommisar should continue, because she wanted to hear this every bit as much as Tress. It was not his place to ask, but on this matter their minds concurred, he spoke the words she would have had he not been there and was in a unique position to both gain and aid in this matter.
She waved the servo droid away with one elegant hand when it hovered in her direction, all thirst having escaped her completely, were it not for the thirst for this information. What she gained in terms of this, was much more than she could have bargained for. To begin with, the Regent only had to mention the name Yuuzhan Vong and she instantly stilled, a certain hardness returning to her impassive expression, accentuated by an unusual coldness of eye. Where was this going, exactly? Refraining from crossing her arms as she drew herself up regally, she did not wish to appear stand offish before she had heard every last detail, but she was beginning to draw her own conclusions.
But it was one small fact that had confirmed her earlier concerns, one leak she was going to have to take steps towards plugging before the day was out. Holding up one hand, slender index digit pointed towards the ceiling, Khari intended to politely draw his interest for a short moment.
"Excuse me a moment, but did you just say that the Yuuzhan Vong possess the means of creating vessels like the Sekotan ones, including the piece of the puzzle we are missing?" She waited for him to clarify, not in the habit of contradicting those in such high places, Khari knew she ran the risk of offence, but he had just admitted to something he should not know. "How was it, that you came to know that we may be missing one small piece, as you say?"
Kommisar had gone on to explain the means by which the Yuuzhan Vong project had become apparent to them, how these 'Extolled' wished to collaborate with them in the creation of semi organic vessels like those grown and constructed upon Zonama Sekot, like the one they had secreted away in their holding hangar, but with the vital aspect that prevented them from being mass marketed taken out of the equation. If this was so, the Imperials possessed something invaluable to KDY, something the likes of which her researchers had been slaving away for years to replicate unsuccessfully. If this seemed too good to be true, then that saying was proven very apt when it came down to the Yuuzhan Vong debacle. There was no chance in the galaxy that the Ten would ever sanction allowing Yuuzhan Vong anywhere near the system, let alone a group of them aboard the orbital array. The kind of damage their people had wrought on Kuat was still being corrected to this day, the treachery of their own senator at that time a stigma that was going to stick to them like Yuuzhan Vong blorash jelly for over a generation. Kommisar must think her spacesick to entertain it!
Taken aback, quite literally as she took a step back from the table, shaking her head slowly while her mind whirled with the insanity of this suggestion. This was the Yuuzhan Vong he was talking about, the same species that had tried to wipe out or enslave half the galaxy! Nobody could trust their promises, what was to say they would not stab them in the back, again literally, when they had acquired all that they needed.
"I....no! Are...forgive me Regent, but you must think me insane if I would ever consider..." Khari paused herself, mouth still working for a heartbeat, but her words had ceased to come forth. In the end she fell into an uneasy silence, of which Kommisar's female companion was only too ready to take advantage of - stepping forth with a gait and height that seemed to tower over all who congregated here. And in that brief moment she realized who she was looking at, or rather what.
Her blood ran cold within seconds as the memories of the atrocities suffered at the hands of these beasts hammered through her mind, shortly followed by the heated anger that she felt, all that they had lost because of these zealots. Of course, the Regent claimed this one was of the Extolled, the ones that had been known as shamed ones at one point. They had risen up against the caste-bound and fought with the GA to restore peace, to defeat their oppressors. Without them, Coruscant may well still belong to the Yuuzhan Vong, and Kuat with it.
She could at least hear them out - Now I know I am spacesick.
"You must understand me when I say that the ruling families will not stand for this. Kuat is already tarnished due to the acts of one traitor, if I am seen to be collaborating with these...extolled and the media get ahold of this, I might as well throw myself out the airlock, because it is going to be a lot less painful in comparison to what it will bring down upon all of us here. We cannot, will not, have Yuuzhan Vong in the Kuat system, there would be an outcry and people would leave in their droves, lest they wish to be a part of this. How do you propose we negotiate around that issue? And just how many of the Extolled would be required to conduct such procedures?" She was considering this, she was actually considering this...her more rebellious predecessors were probably turning in their graves, did they actually have any.

"Namely the combined forces of the Empire and yourselves, Chairbeing." Kommisar replies to Vestra's inquiry as to the Kage's possible intentions of returning to Kuat space. "And if this prject is successful, the ship produced should be more than adequate to crush his vessel."
"Call it an educated guess, Chairbeing, you all but said such earlier." Kommisar says as he takes another sip of water.
This was the key part to the Kuati stance, Kommisar knows this and needs to assure the Cahirbeing that all steps be taken to make sure things like this don't get out... for both KDY and the RGE's sakes. "Understand Chairbeing, the Empire share's your concerns, a facility within either Kauti or Imperial space is out of the question. We also share your wanting of complete secrecy in this matter, as do the the Extolled. This is their 'proving moment' so to speak and they know full good and well what will happen should they prove to be lying."
Taking another drink of his water, Kommisar begins to think about where to complete such a task. That's when it hits him but he plays it off like its always been the plan. "As for the Extolled, you will have to ask Lady Hul about that. The Empire will also send techs and scientists to aid in the efforts. As for the location, Talasea, in the Morobe system, is far enough out of the way and not affiliated with anyone. Its quiet, secretive and only feral bantha and other minuscule wildlife call it home. It's far enough away from prying eyes that we should have no interference from anyone."
As Kommisar has a chance to think of it a bit better, he shakes his head and almost as fast as the idea was . "Hmm, on second though, that planet is in the Colonies region... granted no one visits, hmm, maybe not the best choice."
Kommisar sits back and thinks about it and decides to make this a joint desicion since he hopes this to become a joint effort. "Actually, I say suggestion be taken, I think we all should have a little say and the hope is that this will be a joint venture afterall."

The sudden change in him had been noticeable, but now back on track he seemed true to form, she would remember to ask him about that later, but for now they needed to get out of here, preferably before the door came down. She didn't need any prompting, passing through the hatchway into the space beyond, which was surprisingly spacious, something Arri had rather hoped it would not be. The larger the open space around them, the more vertigo tended to get to her, this was going to be one trip she would never forget, she could not afford to let her irrational fear get the better of her, it would likely mean both their ends and she had enough guilt on her mind as it was. You can do this and a whole lot more, you have seen far worse - her conscience reminded her, and that she might have, but then she had never had several armed security personnel on her tail at the time, the wrong end of a blaster rifle pointed in her general direction. That was if they even bothered with those, if vertigo took ahold of her they'd need to pry her white-knuckles off the ladder first. "After me, right...no problem." She cited alloud, though even she wished she could believe herself on the latter count. She sounded her normal self, but several tell-tale signs were in evidence. She didn't seem to care for the heights, or maybe the shaft itself. Either way, she wore a brave face and did what needed to be done. The alternative would be much worse. Negating the need to look down as she grasped a hold of the support rail and turned about face, she kept her eyes dead ahead, at the wall the ladder was affixed to, then began to make her way slowly downwards, hand over hand, foot passing foot. She was about five to ten rungs down when she dared look up at him, only to see him pull the access panel on the turbolift and taking out the canister he had kept for himself. Confusion furrowing her brow, the Kuati had been about to ask what he was doing when it became abundantly obvious. The flame retardant foam began pouring at high pressure from the canister's nozzle, gumming up the inside circuitry and causing much of it to spark and fizzle out in a puny mock-firework display of sparks and burnt fusion welds. "Well that solves that problem." The woman had been about to glance down before she mentally caught herself, he would need to be their eyes for the duration of the journey to the bottom, or at least to the next level where they could find a means to escape the shaft without too much consequence or drawing attention to themselves. "Alright, onwards and downwards...."And down she continued, as quickly as she was able, phobia or not, now wasn't a good time to be letting fear overtake her. "We need to take a detour!" She called up to him, "When we get out of here, we need to find a temporary place to figure something out, I might have an idea."He nodded as she spoke, careful to make sure she didn't freeze. And then, almost out of the blue, she exclaimed the need to detour. Alright, there's a open door about three levels down. Let's take that one. And with that said, he pushed himself off the rungs, letting his body fly out into the shaft, dropping quickly past her, moving more and more to the other side of the shaft, until he closed his eyes and reached out with both hands, grasping a handle and coming to an abrupt stop. He'd let the Force guide him, and tell him when to grab out. When he looked back up at Arri, he grinned at her. The dress she wore was amazing, and her body was so perfect.... No time for that NOW! he mentally chastised himself. So easy to get off track..... Anyways, he lowered himself down and in front of the lift door. Reaching out to sense anyone in the hall, he waited until it was clear, then hit the latches, opening the door from the inside. Stepping out, he immediately went to the nearest door, keying the open button. Surprisingly, it was unlocked, and he went directly inside. The room had no windows, yet it contained a small desk and chair. A open doorway just to the left of the desk exposed a large conference room, also dark. He'd hit jackpot, and knew it. Again going to the door, he waited and sensed for others. It was all clear, so he dashed back to the lift, re-opening it by hand. Climbing back in, he gripped the handle and let the lift door close. He looked up and waved to Arri, in a 'come quick' motion.

What was he doing there, other than to facilitate things between both governments. That done it was up to both parties to choice and make up their own minds on how to go about things.
He was in both parties favor. .
On one hand he wanted what Khari wanted. His family had a long history or a shared history with Kuat and for all that its worth at least he wanted the best for it. Independence was the key here, open to both sides or all sides while making a profit on all. Kuat had to regain its reputation somewhat, and allying completely to one side wasn't the best way to do that. It would ruffle others enough to like the GA to force trade or economic embargo's on Kuat which would lead to disastrous effects down the line. Them operating on their own would be best for the meantime. He had spoken to Khari enough that she thought strongly on this matter. So it was up to her now.
The other hand had him in the RGE favor. Successfully completing this endeavor would set them apart from other governments. Putting them in the forefront of the galaxy in terms of military strength and as well as n economic piece of the pie if KDY went along with things.
There was no way to even keep this quiet if it was possible here on Kuat. With mixed loyalties. Backstabbing. Power grabbing. It wouldn't be a secret for long. That's when the trouble would start. No, there had to be some place else to do all this.
"Maybe the deep core or the Outer Rim?" He tells them both. Security reasons for both. The Deep Core would be easier to keep tabs on, while the Outer Rim was so vast that it would take luck or spies to find out where they were at.

It was always going to come down to a matter of politics and trust, Kaalyanii was no intendant, but she knew how these people worked, it had to do with the strange notion of a thing called democracy - something the extolled themselves were still learning to get to grips with. In the end, the outcome was supposed to favour the majority vote, a simple enough concept, alien though it might be, it didn't lack the rigidity of the caste system, but it did seem a tad more fair.
Kaalyanii turned once more to the CEO.
"I understand that you have no reason to trust my kind, we were prepared for this from the beginning. But if no one gives us a chance to prove that we only want peez, how are we, then, to enable our selves to put right what our opressors did so wrong?"
There was no telling if her sincerity had gotten through to the Kuati or not, human and Yuuzhan Vong inflection was so vastly different, there had been times she had thanked someone for something in the most traditional of ways, and people had fled screaming. Perhaps this was why, then, that she kept such a tight control on her gesticulation.
"We share something of a common goal, your people and I..." Kaalyanii began, only to be interrupted briefly,
"Oh? And what would that be?"
Ignoring the sharpness of tone, the former shamed one inclined her head respectfully, and continued, "You seek to wash away the blood mark that tarnishes your world, to atone for the actions of the senator, Viqi Shesh whom gave your people the name of traitor. And we, the extolled, wish to atone for the actions of many zealots, what's done is done, there is no going back but we can forge a positive future."
Unsurprisingly, the haughty Kuati wasn't in the least bit impressed with the analogy, nor was she going to remain silent about Kaalyanii's declairation that her supicions were correct. Kaalyanii looked on as the female across the table drew herself up imperiously, and glared back at the masquered Yuuzhan Vong contemptuously.
"Do not mention that name in this system, the Shesh's have paid dearly for the actions of that one, they are exiles and no longer citizens of Kuat or it's neighbouring moons! We all suffer as a direct result of her treachery but we are nothing, nor will we ever be, like you." Khari spat back. She was letting contextual insult cloud her mind to the possibilities, if Kaalyanii or Kommisar did not turn this situation around fast the answer would be a resounding no, she didn't need to study human behavior to understand that one.
"You ask me to trust you, and yet you come here disguised as one of us!"
Now was the time to be incredibly diplomatic about things, this wasn't a vie for power, nor would it become that, this was for mutual benefit.
The senator, standing on the Kuati side of the table, though by all accounts he was not Kuati himself, seemed far more open minded to the notion, cautious all the same, but undeniably open. Where his interests lay she was not certain, he could have his own agenda, but perhaps he could smooth things over a little? It would certainly save their best laid plans. Kommisar himself seemed determined to do so also.
Loosing a gentle sigh, the extolled one shook her head sadly, there was a certain meloncholy air about her, everything that she did, each step that she took seemed almost forlorn in some way, betraying a life of hardships, one befitting of that which had fallen from grace. And she had, once.
"Forgive the deception, potent one, but it was necessary to circumvent your warriors without suspicion. Would you have heard me out if I had come here as my true self?" It wasn't a question really, and Khari did not answer. "But if this is truly the time for revelations, let us look upon it as honestly as possible."
Reaching up with one hand to the pressure point in the crease of her nose, Kaalyanii pressed one claw-tipped finger against it and her whole skin seemed to ripple in undulating response. Slowly, and with a suckering sound that could be equated with slurping, the creature began to withdraw it's pore-bound cillia, peeling away to reveal the shattered and brutally scarred visage beneath. Inch by inch it recoiled, disappearing beneath the hemlines of Kaalyanii's clothes, until finally it settled inert upon the floor at her feet. Now standing there in all her glory, she allowed herself the brief respite of feeling the cold hardness of the recycled air touch her skin, leaving her longing for the temperate climates of Zonama, she would return soon, hopefully to prepare the team of shapers for this task.
The personnel flanking Khari had now moved to take up arms, but were stopped mid-action by the CEO herself, raising one hand to halt their actions before they could bring the muzzles of their blaster rifles up to bear on the yuuzhan Vong before them.
"No, leave her...I am curious."
Standing down, the pair shrunk back at her command, leaving the extolled one to continue where Kommisar had left off.
"As the Regent suggests, if this project would go ahead, it would not be in your system, not a system associated with the RGE, it would be conducted with the utmost secrecy. All we propose is on those files I give to you on this made-thing qahsa, you and your Ten can deliberate terms if you wish."
Khari didn't seem to be able to take her eyes off the horrific visage that had just been revealed to them all, Kaalyanii didn't look like your usual Yuuzhan Vong, not any of those she had ever seen. Her markings were incomplete, scars seemed to fester and have deformed her implants, in particular an array of coral shoulder spikes that were splintered and crumbling over time. So kommisar was telling the truth about her being among those who venerated the Jedi at the end of the war, who had helped turn the tide in their favour.
"They will need to be appraised, but ultimately the decision is mine to make." The Kuati responded, slipping another look in the Regent's direction and addressing her next question to him, "Talasea? There are a thousand worlds further afield and away from prying eyes. It would not cost much to secure one for this project, were an agreement to be reached."
That was the best possible agreement all round, and there was another example of that odd concept of democracy. Kaalyanii would have smiled if she didn't think she'd get shot in the face.
But it was the senator from Anaxes who was the first to suggest a locale.
"Or perhaps the unknown regions?" The yuuzhan vong threw into the mix.
Khari shook her head, "No, far too close to the location of Zonama Sekot, if this is to be unrelated, I agree with Senator Odak-Zann, the outer rim is still well within this galaxys boundaries for us to keep a close watch on proceedings, but far away enough for it to be difficult to discover or trace without considerable effort."
There was always a catch, that was what the dark jeedai, Drevin, had taught Kaalyanii, so she waited with baited breath for the one that was bound to come.
"I propose a trial, I could spare you the resources, the expertise of our finest engineers and so forth, if just to see if this project could be a plausible success. You will understand that in order for the Ten to pass something of this magnitude, there will have to be irrifutable proof that it works and can be of benefit to them and KDY. If I were to bring them the finished article, one they themselves could take a look at at their leisure, I would imagine there would be little qualms as to whether or not they would vote in favour of continuing business with you."

[glow=red,2,300]Posting as Arri (who really needs a profile, i'll get on that!)[/glow]
A gentle gust of a breeze was all she felt as he went sailing by, the action of him letting go of the ladder and dropping foot long into the shaft was shocking enough in it's self, and had he not been so blase about the whole thing, she might have actually shrieked in dismay! But he didn't seem to fall so much as glide to a graceful landing several levels down, leaving Arri to play catch up.
Aware of his eyes on her when she drew ever closer, she dared speak up quitely, unaware of the danger that had passed them by overhead.
"You really must warn me when you intend to do something like that...I am assuming that was all part of what you were trying to explain to me earlier?"
Jumping down the last set of rungs atheletically, she followed Zanear's violet gaze toward the next turbolift at their direct right. She still had that canister of flame retardant gunk, if there was someone on the other side of the access hatch, she could at least blind them with it and buy them a scrap of time with which to escape. It wasn't much of a plan, even she had to admit, but they didn't have much to bargain with right now...which was precisely why they needed to take a detour.
Smiling broadly, hopefully when he stalked across the way, she followed thereafter, casting back one glance up the ladder to ensure they were not being followed, before disappearing into the dim light of the service corridor as silently as she was able.
The falleen was the first one down into the lift car, bidding her to wait whilst he opened the doors from the inside, letting himself out, then closing it again behind himself while Arri climbed down inside. After a fashion, she, too stepped out into the corridoor beyond as if nothing in the slightest were amiss, once he had returned to her. Though she had to admit, she was feeling a little on the naked side without her boots. By now a warrent had to be out for their arrest, so there was no time to tarry here and true to his edgy persona, Zanear had found them a private space to occupy for the next few moments.
Good, thought Arri, she could explain this little detour better if they weren't constantly on the lookout for trouble.
Slipping into the abandonned conference room, the blonde visibly sagged with relief for just being able to sit still for a second. Though she was noticably agitated, the fact they had four solid walls around them keeping them from view was a ridiculously large comfort.
"I knew we should have gone sooner, do you think they know we came this way?" She breathed quietly, still not quite fully believing they were alone. It didn't matter, she told herself, even if they didn't know where she and Zanear had gone, they soon would, every aspect of this array was monitored in some capacity, from the basic movements of maintenance droids to the fiery explosive tempering of the star destroyers being constructed nearby. They wouldn't stay hidden for long if they stayed put.
"Unless you have some means of getting us around security, we aren't going to get within a parsec of the spaceport, let alone to where your friend can pick us up. We need collateral, something valuable to counter with...something or someone." What was she saying?! She could hardly believe her ears, was she truly suggesting they take a hostage? This was insane....and such a rush!
Now pacing, she racked her brains to try and work out just how they would do that, how they could procure one. The most valuable options would be for her to get to any member of the ten ruling families, but that in it's self was often an issue, anyone high up in the households and KDY, would have security in abundance, there was a chance that neither she, nor Zanear would get into the quarters or offices of one such denizen, never mind trying to get back out again. So a younger member perhaps? And then again, there always was her own master...
Arching a brow pensively, she paused mid step, simply halting the action abruptly, then spinning sharply on the ball of each foot to face the falleen again, who, as usual, looked as cool as a Hoth sunrise. She really wished she had his demeanour, but perhaps that would come with time, all this was new to her, but deception was something she well knew how to execute. The lies she had told on behalf of others in her time, were enough to dominate the holonet news for decades if revealed.
"Assuming they know I came with you willingly, stating that you have taken me as a hostage is lost to us as an option. But providing they have not put the call out to any news networks on station, I may still have access to many restricted areas. My master is here on the array at present, his offices are not far from here, we could....oh how would you say it, borrow him for a while?"
As uses went, Kaur of Kuhlvult was about to serve a very good one, she'd be sure to praise him in the same condescending manner he often did her when it was all done with. He owed her no less.

Kommisar watches the exchange between Vestra and Kaalaynii with interest, knowing that the Kauti and Yuuzhan Vong have a rather storied past, he is most intrigued to see where this might lead. Watching things come to a boiling head, Kommisar is about to step in when Kaalaynii decides to take off the masquer and reveal her real face -- Kommisar feels his stomach turning handsprings and his guts twisting as he sees the disgusting features of the the Extolled emissary. Inside his mind he is screaming for Kaalaynii to put her masquer back on but at the same time he can't look away. That is when things start taking a turn and Vestra is beginning to sound interested; was it this twisted monstrosity before them the reason... had Kaalyanii pulled this off?
The Imperial Regent hears and can't help but be pleased with the Chairbeing's terms; he smiles confidently that their terms will be more than met and that the Ten will be pleased with the results in the end. "The High Command made a similar suggestion in our meetings, one ship to see if it's possible is a good stepping stone for all of us."
Kommisar thinks about it and remembers a little known planet that might serve as a decent location. "How about Munto Codru?"

[glow=red,2,300] Posting as Arri (who really needs a profile, i'll get on that!)[/glow] Aware of his eyes on her when she drew ever closer, she dared speak up quietly, unaware of the danger that had passed them by overhead. "You really must warn me when you intend to do something like that...I am assuming that was all part of what you were trying to explain to me earlier?"He smiled playfully at that. No warnings....no you must learn to be ready for anything! He leaned in and kissed her full on the lips, lingering only a moment. Now hurry love, no time for fun in this shaft right now! He mock chastised her. Jumping down the last set of rungs athletically, she followed Zanear's violet gaze toward the next turbolift at their direct right. She still had that canister of flame retardant gunk, if there was someone on the other side of the access hatch, she could at least blind them with it and buy them a scrap of time with which to escape. After a fashion, she, too stepped out into the corridor beyond as if nothing in the slightest were amiss, once he had returned to her. Though she had to admit, she was feeling a little on the naked side without her boots. By now a warrant had to be out for their arrest, so there was no time to tarry here and true to his edgy persona, Zanear had found them a private space to occupy for the next few moments. Good, thought Arri, she could explain this little detour better if they weren't constantly on the lookout for trouble. Slipping into the abandoned conference room, the blonde visibly sagged with relief for just being able to sit still for a second. Though she was noticeably agitated, the fact they had four solid walls around them keeping them from view was a ridiculously large comfort. Once they'd had a chance to enter the room, he sat in the small desk chair. Although lounging in the thing would best describe it. He watched as she literally sagged, obvious relief flooding her senses. Perhaps all this adventure was just what the doctor ordered for her, he thought to himself. She'd need to be ready for this sort of thing sooner rather then later. He shrugged at that statement. I don't recall you complaining at the time my dear... he answered smoothly, silky. He should have known better himself, but what can you do now? She really wished she had his demeanor, but perhaps that would come with time, all this was new to her, but deception was something she well knew how to execute. My master is here on the array at present, his offices are not far from here, we could....oh how would you say it, borrow him for a while?"As uses went, Kaur of Kuhlvult was about to serve a very good one, she'd be sure to praise him in the same condescending manner he often did her when it was all done with. He owed her no less. He stayed quiet, letting her work things out for herself. Watching the wheels turn round and round as she thought, she made one conclusion after the next, finally allowing herself to break free and actually contemplate what it would take for her to gain freedom. After several moments, he spoke up. First things first. You need shoes. he said pointedly, indicating her now dirty feet. And we can either sneak our way into a hanger and steal a ship, or stowaway aboard one. Our ride is waiting outside the system. He let that sink in for a moment. He wondered what choice she would make, but only briefly. Although I must admit, your proposal does have a bit of excitement in it. If you think we can do it, then lets.

By the time the rest of banner's entry team and the snipers rally back at the transport, he has already put in a request for a sensor sweep of the apartments and the back accesses. As he waits for a reply, he tries to think what would he do in the situation.
***
Klask returns to his office and no sooner does he sit down than several junior officers start piling reports on his desk. His com goes off as he shakes his head in disgust at the growing pile of red-tape.
"Klask. Ah, Captain Banner... Request a sensor sweep?"
Having expected that the Captain would be reporting that he was on his way back with prisoners, he is a bit shocked to hear the request.
"Captain, please tell me that Arri and the Falleen are in your custody and your merely requesting this to ascertain that there is nothing amiss in the quarters of our CEO."
He knows he is not going to like the answer... and then there it is. He hears Banner tell him that they confirmed the identities, and before they could initiate a response the Falleen locked the door and they ran into another room which they did not have a visual on. While it appears from the very brief sit-rep the Banner delivers indicates that they operated with diligence, unfortunately the targets had not followed the script and figured out another exit strategy.
Klask is just about to give authorization when he considers the impending axe hanging over his head. The CEO's quarters by definition are inviolate, without her own order, it would be even greater career suicide to authorize this... No, she needs to give that order, he is not giving her more rope to hang him with willingly. Klask keys in an order for security droids to do extensive sweeps of all the connecting corridors. He also relays in for a second team to join Banner, and puts that nearest accesses to the service and maintenance areas under increased vigilance.
"Banner, you need to find those two and fast. A dropid detail will cover the areay from the Maintenance side, your request to do a sensor sweep from the inside of the CEO's rooms is denied. Only she can order that.
Klask sits back in his chair as another set of reports come in. He pinches the bridge of his nose and tries to remember where the nearest airlock is... Maybe if he just shoved all the paperwork in there...

That had been a surprise, a Yuuzhan Vong here, but more importantly with he RGE. How long has this been going on? What had been kept secret from them. There were alot more questions her appearance brought to mind. That one was here on Kuat and after all they had done was the shocker. She must believe in what shes doing then, to risk life and limb like this. He saw her attention and studied her back openly. When she spoke as her true self, it was hard not to see things her way. He still didn't see what her reasoning was. To create a mixture of living and technological things was against their beliefs wasn't it? Had the social religion or way of life changed for them in their exile? All this he thought as he stood besides Khari, he was there as support only. KDY and Kuat were hers to lead to greatness or ruin. Though having gotten to know her, she would be a huge success. They still needed a planet somewhere to conduct these experiments or trials. He was still thinking of somewhere to suggest. Out of the way and off the records. He still thought that the Outer Rim was the best bet, not only vast and the least populated area. There was thousands of planets where one could get lost out there. "Lady Vestra is right, the Unknown Regions is to close to Sekot and not to mention the Chiss Ascendancy." that was something he didn't like. As it was they might not like what they were planning. Why leave themselves open to spies so close to their territory. What about Munto Codru? The planet itself was fine, it was out of the way and could easily be used for this project. Though something bothered him about it. They RGE had kept secret knowledge with the Vong in their grasps, it felt as if they had things planned already and this suggestion was just the next step. His side glance at Khari said it all, and he hoped she understood. "How about Maltha Obex out in the New territories region of the Outer Rim?"starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Maltha_Obex

Arri glanced at him wryly, no she hadn't been complaining, she hadn't exactly been in any state to complain either, nor was she complaining now. Henceforth a slight giggle passed her lips at that notion, shortly followed by a light hearted quipp.
"I will remember to pretend to resist next time." Just as she said that, she shot him a wink. For as stoic as Kuati could be, they did have a sense of humour, whatever the media might portray and tales profess.
But joking aside, this wasn't getting them anywhere closer to escaping their predicament here. And watching Zanear settle into the chair at the head of the table, lounging around as if this were merely a stop gap, she really began to wish she had his laid back attitude about everything. But then, she supposed, it could be a species trait, she had seldom encountered a Faleen, never to speak to. Species specific or not, there was no point in denying that she liked it.
Where excitement was concerned that would surely have it in droves, and his drawing attention to her footwear situation did have her shaking her head again. Yes, her feet were, in short, a grubby mess. But then she never had been one for running about the halls barefoot, it was hardly surprising considering the sheer number of people that passed through these halls daily.
"Getting to the transfer zones themselves will be problematic, if we have someone with us, someone who's life will inevitably be of more value to them than two fugatives, it will make the transition easier. My guess is they will try and attempt to have us taken to the military or freight transfer zones, should we bargain. But I would advise against this for the obvious reason. If we can get them to take us through the regular passenger ports, there will be too many every day spacers around for them to pull off a rescue without clogging up the system all over again."
She ceased her pacing then, pirching herself on the edge of the table before his chair, leaning forth slightly for emphasis when she gestured. He might have said no time for extra-escapular activities earlier, but that didn't stop her mind from considering it there for a moment, perhaps two. And with that in mind, she leaned further forth and kissed him, unable to help herself.
Ever one to press the urgency however, security were going to be figuring out ther location one way or another, so why sit around and wait to be caught. Unfortunately for them both, they didn't tend to mind what state a person was in when they arrested them.
"I can pick up some shoes when we arrive at my ma-" she caught herself there mid-flow, Kaur was no longer her master, not now she had taken the steps towards making her freedom a legitimacy. Arri shook her head and exhaled with a silent laugh, then turned her green eyes upon Zanear. "What I meant to say was, I can procure some footwear when we reach Kaur of Kuhlvult. His quarters are the opposite end of the private quarter to the CEO's. I know for a fact he is on this array because I arrived with him and it is unlikely he would leave without....so, what say you Zanear? Shall we go and request an impromptu audience?"

But joking aside, this wasn't getting them anywhere closer to escaping their predicament here. Best to grab the bantha by the horns, and ride it out. So far, your plan seems to work, I see no obvious flaws... and then she leaned in and kissed him. Her lips were like a fire, unquenchable and all-consuming. Without thought his hands flew to her hair, pulling her to him, pressing his own lips hard against hers. If only they weren't so desperate for time, he'd take her right there....but time was of the essence, and they had already made one mistake too many. Getting away won't be as easy as he had originally thought. Ever one to press the urgency however, security were going to be figuring out their location one way or another, so why sit around and wait to be caught. And then she was right back to business, planning the best way to tie up the loose ends. I say we do. I like your plan, but I do have one simple question. After we make good our escape, what will stop him from hunting us down? I fear we may have to eliminate him from the equation. And it would have to look like an accident. He let the connotation hang in the air. Her idea was good, but they would never be really free if this Kaur was to live for revenge. Kuati were known for such stubborn ideas.

Things had been taking a drasic nose dive there for a second, and for all intents and purposes it appeared as if the talks would be a failure. The ire that Khari had felt when confronted with the abject truth had known few bounds, once boiling to overflowing point now merely simmering away inside. What had turned the tide, however, had been the faith with which these Imperials had actually entrusted to the Extolled. She trusted the Vong about as far as she could have thrown her, but Kommisar had no more reason to trust Kaalyanii and her kind anymore than Khari herself did. If anything, they stood to lose a whole lot more than she, should this project fail. But it wasn't his interests she was concerned about, it merely helped grease the wheels of progress a little.
With the Regent suggesting the little known world of Munto Codru, even she had to admit, she wasn't entirely certain just where that was located in relation to everything else. She knew roughly where it was, but it wasn't exactly destination number one on her 'worlds I simply must visit before I die' list. If this plan went wrong, she could expect that death to come on swift wings. Which was precisely why, the Kuati shrewdly told herself, this trial run would be financed by herself. The Ten would still need to be informed, KDY would, in effect, be paying for it through that cut of profit she kept for herself, and the engineers and research teams sent to work on the project would come from these very shipyards, but if she named the project an interest, a cause of her own, they would be kept well out of the firing line if it came to who to blame. If the project was a success, all the better for them, undoubtedly they would want in.
It had been a while since she had persued any personal business ventures, this could be precisely what she was looking for. A smile born of a plan in the making lurked behind her eyes, the subtle spark of interest renewed, though she did her best to tear hear eyes away from the hideously mutillated visage of the Yuuzhan Vong....that was one aspect of this arrangement she would probably never get used to. Such things were the stuff of nightmares, but if anyone knew how to bend the biological to their will, it was the Yuuzhan Vong. Khari knew for a fact the clean up from their brief occupation was still going on on Kuat today.
At that precise moment in time, Tress caught her eye with a subtle glance, and she turned her head subtly, slowly so as not to draw attention to her sudden lack of pensivness, and raised a hand to her chin thoughtfully, her gaze seemingly to drift distant.
Pivoting slightly to face Kommisar again, her expression expectant, she saw no reason why she needed to give more voice to that suggestion than that which had already been given. It would be interesting just to see how he took the random suggestion, with a view to perhaps showing the Regent's true hand and intentions. Just what was so important, if anything about the earlier suggestion of Munto Codru.
"Indeed, Maltha Obex is relatively abandonned, the Vo....Extolled could work there without fear of attack from outside sources, or indeed discovery, and all under the watchful eyes of our own." Though she couldn't help but notice one small factor about that world, and it was something she would bring up with Tress later. "Your thoughts, Regent? Since I will be funding this project as more of a personal endeavour before I have the full support of the board, I would ask you to take into consideration the precarious position this places me in when deciding upon locale."
Hands held before her, fingers interlaced, she kept her head held high as ever, watching Kommisar closely, oh she knew how far this one's reach extended, of whom he answered to, which was precisely why she wasn't letting her guard down too much. There was inevitably something more than what he had mentioned in it for him. There always was.

"I understand you all too well, Chairbeing." Kommisar says as he thinks things over, Maltha Obex is far enough outside any well known hyperspace lanes to go far more undetected than others. "I am more than willing to support this location, and as far as financing goes, the Empire can also divert funding to the project so that you aren't eating the personal cost."
Kommisar is being nice, he knows if he gives a little that the chairbeing might give a little and she's been more than generous. This project is beginning to look more and like a reality than a possiblity.

A subtle chuckle came from her, watching him there revel in the moment was infectious, she was starting to like this lifestyle choice already. "A pity that won't get us through security. Still, we could always give it a try?"
She pushed up and away from the table, reluctantly returning to her pacing, movement seemed to make thought that little bit easier, or at the very least calm her nerves. Running a hand through her lustrous mane of golden hair, she shook it out tiredly, all this after everything they had been up to was certainly testing her atheleticism. No, if they were going to do this, they had best do it right, and by right she meant right away.
Arri's head snapped round to fix him firmly in her line of sight, he'd spied a potentially huge kink in their chain, and it was of a magnitude that she was uncertain even he would be able to out run. Hailing from a world where subterfuge and back-stabbery was a mainstay of society, she well knew just how the upper crust of society handled betrayal. She had witnessed it first hand that day in Khari Vestra's office. Burned into her memory was the charred and desimated visage of the man that had once been Khari's telbun, an ignominous price to pay for blackmail, deserved one might say. But the thought of ending up the same way flipped her stomach. It was both too early and too late to be considering that now.
What she hadn't expected was to be hearing the term 'eliminated' at all in this plan, not unless it was self defence. You made the suggestion, you should know that it comes with it's faults and a price for those faults. she thought bitterly.
Turning to face him fully, her mind working over the possibility, she kept her gaze low, distant as she approached him, still lounging there in the ridiculously articulated chair, designed in every possible way to support a humanoid frame. Kaur would want revenge, Zanear was right, if they wronged him enough, and with her kind of knowledge, they really would, he would stop at very little to see to it the pair of them were hunted down and brought to justice, or a very swift end, for their crimes. There could be few other options and it left Arri feeling cold. Staving off the shiver curling up her spine like an icy tendril, she finally raised her gaze to meet his, reaching forth and offering both hands to help him up.
"Unless he gets caught in the crossfire somehow, I must confess I had not considered that option. But it may be our only one." Sighing, she shook her head, she really needed to think these things through first. And then she plucked at a random memory, recalling how the reports she had sent to Vestra had contained several statements from the security personnel surviving the hangar scuffle, stating that their weapons had mysteriously fired themselves. One such account had stated how it had been like an invisible hand had been controlling their own ruthlessly, pulling back the trigger and forcing them to fire on the group. The conclusion had been that since the Kage and his apprentice had been present, this was a diversionary tactic performed by they alone.
Sliding a glance at Zanear, the spark of inspriation lighting up her green flecked eyes, she also recalled how the Falleen had told her that he possessed a gift, the likes of which he would rather remain aloof about. All the better advantage for them, then. And she would never have told a soul.
"Do you recall what happened in the hangar bay before, when the Kage presumably made those operatives blasters fire? You told me you had means of sensing things, knowing things before others would. I know it is not a species trait, the only conclusion I could come to was that it was akin to the powers Jedi possess, though to what extent, you would have to inform me, but I digress." The Kuati wasn't even sure if she was correct in those assumptions, it was almost a stab in the dark, there was still much he had to share with her.
Furtively, she drew him nearer, this engagement taking on a more clandestine air, "Would it be possible to replicate that? Would it be possible to make it appear as if one of Kaur's own had pulled the trigger?"

A small smirk tugged at the corners of Khari's mouth, though her gaze remained perfectly even, betraying little to none of her inner emotion. So he was somewhat willing to go along with their suggestions too then? But what of the Vong?
"Such things are not beyond my means but are greatly appreciated, Regent." the dark haired woman responded with a judicious nod of her perfectly formed head. "This is one occasion where Imperial assistance would be welcomed." The little stab at Klask's indisgression wasn't without mirth, she had appreciated the fact that they had been able to deal with Dooku so efficiently, it was not an option she, herself would have considered though. And when added to this was the destinct possibility that Kommisar's own had been infiltrating their ranks, putting in a tap for information, it served as a subtle reminder that she was going to be keeping a very close eye on the proceedings from here on out.
Better to halt any conspiracies before they have chance to take root than be required by necessity to tear them out by those very same roots later. She thought.
"And you?" The kuati asked pointedly, regretfully turning her eyes upon the vong in question, "Are you in agreement with the choice of locale?"
Kaalyanii, for all her imposing stature and nightmarish looks, actually seemed surprised she was being questioned, genuinely taken aback. Or as far aback as a Yuuzhan Vong could look taken. As she always seemed to do before speaking to someone she considered might be of vaulted heirachy, she inclined her head before speaking, an action Khari had only ever witnessed done between Vong and Vong, never in a situation such as this. But then, she couldn't recall a documented event where a situation such as this had occured publicly.
"I require only what the shapers require. Plentiful natural resources, food and a secure place to plant the damuteks."
Simple requirements, Khari thought, but she wasn't the expert on vong's wishlisting. "I am curious, however. Just how do you expect to be paid for this project? Zonama Sekot carries no national currency. And if you'll pardon the assumption, nor do the Yuuzhan Vong utilize anything to my knowledge, that could require a payment."
The whole room seemed to look on in disguised disgust as Kaalyanii's slashed tatters of lips peeled back to reveal sharpened pearly whites beyond - a smile, Khari supposed, one that would have given the most hardened of assassins the shivers. She had only ever seen this species show joy when they were hacking off bits of themselves, or indeed bits of another.
"Our payment is simple, chairbeing. The extolled only wish to prove our willingness to make ammends for the mistakes of our former oppressors. That is all the payment we require, the chance to show this galaxy that we can change in a way that is beneficial to all who would give us the chance." Kaalyanii said.
Again Khari brought her interlaced fingers to her lips, it seemed plausible enough, but then she supposed the promise of untold power had seemed plausible to Shesh at the time. She wasn't ready to fall into that trap. The imperials made this scheme a little easier to swallow, for that then, she would make a calculated risk.
"So we are all in agreement then, with Senator Odak-Zann's suggestion of location, the terms for funding?" She certainly was thus far. "If so, I see no reason not to go ahead with this. But...." And this was a big bone of contention, one she waved in the general direction of Kaalyanii, "...I will be observing your people very closely in as much capacity as I am able to spare."

"The Empire have appraised Lady Hul that we will be doing much the same, Chairbeing." Kommisar says with a low level of satisfaction in his voice, he is happy or its basic Imperial smugness at the fact that everything was in fact working in favor of the project going on, his success means no need to worry that the Emperor will kill him for failing. Looking over to Kaalyanii, Kommisar dips his head, almost respectfully like, and grins. "It looks like your people have its chance now."

He has been silently observing since his suggestion, using all his skills to study those present and talking. Thinking of problems that could arise and how to avoid them from happening. He would have liked to have his own planted assets there, but he would let Khari keep him appraised of things as they happened. He turned to look at the Vong as she spoke, it was interesting to know what she was in it for. What she said surprised him, but he kept that to himself.
Turning to the Regent, it was time he made things official. "Regent Kommisar. To facilitate our new friendly terms with KDY, I would like to submit my name in for consideration to act in the official role of RGE liaison here between the RGE and Kuat." It was out of his hands now, either way he would be sticking around when not needed.

All that seemed to have gone as painlessly as possible, though the Khar was unsure if the yuuzhan vong across the way would have liked the literal translation of that statement. With a mental chuckle she put those thoughts to the back of her mind, concentrating on the here and now, the important matters. This was going to take quite the bit of setting up. Thankfully for all concerned, she knew fine well that each party was expedient at getting things operational in less than double the time of many others.
Kaalyanii had not an answer to Kommisar's confirmation, she feared that whatever she had to say would appear a little smug in the eyes of the CEO, that and there was nothing left for her to say on the agreement, her work here was done for the time being, she could merely advise wherever possible. The real work would be on that world's surface, the sooner she got there with the shapers, the better for all concerned. And the shapers were the best that her settlement had to offer, each of them possessing the vital protocols that would be used to grow and create the living components of these new vessels. It wasn't comley for a former warrior to let out a whoop of delight, but by the gods she wanted to!
"So far as time scale goes, when would you like the work to begin? I could have a team assembled in little under a day should the need arise." Khari was saying, "They can rendezvous with you in orbit of Maltha Obex. "Our main resources can travel with them, special clearance due to the untimely chaos the system lockdown caused." And that she waved off with little more than a simple, uncaring gesture - best sweep that mess under the rug for now. She didn't wish to seem incompetant.
Ah yes, thought Khari with a mild mannered satisfaction, she had been wondering when Tress was going to speak up of that. Personally, she couldn't have been more open to the idea, politically, this could be suicide. A liason between Kuat's ruling households, it's senators and someone of the Zann family bloodline was never going to go over well in the first, second or third instance. This she had known would be a problem from the start, but if this truly was the day for new beginnings, why not allow a little radicalism into their lives? Quiet people rarely made an impact for good or for bad, she saw less reasons to disapprove the motion than to approve it, personal relationship aside. Though even Khari had to agree, that would make this little secret of theirs all the more easy to conduct if he had cause enough to be here often.
Turning her head to look at Tress impassively, she finally let a genuine smile settle into her features, and nodded once reassuringly.
"If the regent is so kind as to accept, I would like the opportunity to announce such a liason to the Ten in person before his spell as envoy begins. Given the familiar history between Kuat's ruling households and the Zann consortium, I believe this would be better coming from one of their own." That was, of course, her perogative. Her recent selection as CEO had been something of a mystery to many, with the abolishment of the inherritance exemption during the time Kateel of Kuhlvult had held the title, it had made the whole process encumbered by a proverbial free for all, with many of the ruling households heirs all vying for status. And it was clear from her tenacity that Khari hadn't attained this position from standing on the sidelines to pluck the title from the last person standing at the center of it all. Still, there she was and she didn't intend to squander it.
But what there would be, she had vowed, were some very drastic changes.
